Senior Front End Engineer
Help make satellites simple.
We are seeking an experienced, driven front end developer to play a key role in the ongoing development and growth of our innovative modular tool suite, for the next generation of earth observation satellite operations.
We offer an opportunity for you to demonstrate your insight, technical expertise and collaboration skills by working with our multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists and developers. Engaging with your team to solve issues up and down the satellite imagery infrastructure chain, addressing issues across the gamut of discovery, distribution, analysis, visualisation, commercialisation and management administration.
This role will center around working with our different teams to maintain and extend our server side rendered UI pipeline to support our hypermedia based applications. Using these to create user interfaces for the access and administration of different tools and systems, while maintaining a high degree of accessibility, in combination with flexibility and customization for customers deploying for their internal environments.

JOB TITLE: Senior Front End Engineer

LOCATION: Sydney. Hybrid work possible. Darwin Office.
SUPERVISOR/MANAGER: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Work with team to maintain and consistently extend and update visual web interfaces and ensure their accuracy and ease of use by customers,
- Assist in the design and implementation of new elements and features of the web interfaces,
- Field customer enquiries about the web interface and any issues customers experience interacting with it, in order to plan remediation,
- Collaborate in review and redesign of web interfaces to improve user experience and clarity where issues are found,
- Advice and mentor other developers and team members wishing to build their front end experience
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications:
- No specific qualifications are required for this position if the applicant has appropriate experience (a portfolio of prior works is preferred),
- Qualifications in software or other relevant fields may be an advantage for some applicants.
Experience:
- 5+ years experience developing and maintaining scalable web applications,
- Must be experienced with server side rendering strategies and development without a client framework (hypertext & vanilla JS).
Skills:
Required:
- Expertise with core web front end technologies (HTML5. CSS3, Javascript and Typescript),
- Experience with building sites and web applications using multi-page hypertext and server side rendering approaches.
Preferred:
- Experience with the Go (Golang) programming language and its html template library,
- Strong UI/UX design experience,
- Experience with web mapping and its design and communication challenges,
- familiarity with the WCAGG accessibility guidelines and their impact upon design,
- Prior experience and knowledge of geospatial data conventions and standards.
